The organisation

Since 2007, Pergo’s products have ideally complemented the portfolio of the Pfleiderer AG, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of engineered wood with its headquarters in the town of Neumarkt in southern Germany. The Pfleiderer Group is listed in the MDAX (Germany’s mid-cap share index) and employs approximately 6000 persons at 23 locations in North America and Western and Eastern Europe.

The Group produces raw particleboard, laminated particleboard, medium and high-density fiberboard, surfaced board and laminated flooring. Pfleiderer is a preferred supplier to the furniture industry, trade and do-it-yourself wholesalers and retailers, and interior fitters. With a comprehensive range of base materials and surfaced products, Pfleiderer supplies customers in more than 40 countries all over the world.

Through the acquisition of Pergo, Pfleiderer has become North America’s biggest integrated manufacturer of laminated flooring with a market share of about 20 percent. The integration of the North American production facilities allows Pfleiderer to increase its cost efficiency, improve its utilisation of capacity and achieve significant cost savings.
 
In Western Europe, with the two Pergo plants in Sweden, Pfleiderer is active for the first time as a producer and supplier in the market for high-quality laminated flooring. At the same time, the integration also creates a good starting point for the planned expansion of this high-margin business into Eastern Europe.
 
Pergo is regarded as the inventor of laminated flooring and has developed innovative and pioneering products and technologies in the field. Pfleiderer will protect its substantial portfolio of intellectual property and will proactively market the related products in a newly founded business unit.
