Pergo Floors

Frequently asked Questions
Here are answers to the most common questions asked about PERGO® floors.

What is a PERGO® floor?
PERGO® is a laminate floor that consists of three main components bonded together.

1. The patented TitanX Surface™ is created with a multi-layer technology, merged together under heat and high pressure, giving a surface hard as titanium. Each layer has different properties and functions

  • The top layer provides strength and durability
  • The decorative layer carries the beautiful design
  • The base layer provides strength, stability and heat resistance.

2. The specially engineered moisture resistant HDF substrate provides a stable foundation with minimal expansion and contraction. On some of our products the substrate is made extra moisture resistant to give special water protection.

3. Our SoundBloc™ technology, built into all PERGO® floors consists of a sound reducing underlay attached to the underside of the board, which provides better sound proofing properties than a conventional loose underlay.

What is the difference between a PERGO® floor and other laminate floors?
Pergo is the most durable laminate floor on the market and Pergo also offers the best guarantee.

How does a PERGO® floor impact the environment?
At Pergo the environment has played a central role in everything we do since we first started making laminate floors 30 years ago. It affects our products, our production at our factory in Sweden and our choice of transport and packaging.
Pergo was the first flooring company to receive ISO 14001 certification. We have also been awarded the official Nordic Ecolabel, the Swan, which among other things considers the product’s impact on the environment from raw material to waste and certifies that our product is a good environmental choice. And our PEFC certification signifies that all our floors and accessories are produced from raw materials from renewable forests.

Where can I install PERGO®?
You can install Pergo almost everywhere in your home, except for in bathrooms or rooms with a floor drain. You can also install Pergo on your stairs.

On which surfaces can PERGO® be installed?
As PERGO floors are only 9-11 mm thick, they can be fitted on top of existing floors (vinyl, linoleum, wood floors, particleboard, ceramic tiles, concrete, etc) as long as they are even and flat. We recommend to remove carpets before installing Pergo.

Can I install a PERGO floor myself?
The glue-free Click System is a very simple installation method for the do-it-yourselfer. In a minimum of time your floor is installed, there is no more mess with glue and you can move in your furniture and enjoy your new floor straight away. More detailed information can be found in our installation instructions which is included with the flooring or available on our web site.

How do I clean my PERGO floor?
The surface layer of Pergo flooring is hard and compact, so dirt and dust do not adhere to it easily. An occasional damp mopping with a mild detergent, a quick sweeping or light vacuuming with the hard floor attachments are usually all it takes to keep your Pergo floor clean. More detailed information can be found in our cleaning instructions which is included in the package or available on our web site.

What happens if the floor gets damaged after installation?
A minor damage can easily be corrected with a Pergo repair putty. The repaired patch will blend almost invisibly and be just as durable as the rest of the floor.
