Maintenance

One of the advantages of floors from Pergo is that they are easy to keep clean and attractive. To make cleaning even easier, Pergo offers you cleaning products specially made for laminate floors. By following the simple advice given here, you can keep your PERGO® floor looking good for many years to come.

Everyday cleaning
Vacuum clean or sweep the floor using the PERGO mop to remove dirt and dust. When necessary, use a damp PERGO cloth.

The removal of ordinary stains:
1. Apply Spray Cleaner on the stain.
2. Allow Spray Cleaner to dissolve the stains for a few minutes.
3. Wipe the floor with a damp cloth (using only water).

Your PERGO floor should not be waxed or polished. Never scrub with steel wool or any other coarse material as this may have a negative effect on the appearance and structure.

Certain surface structures and finishes may require special cleaning methods. If your PERGO floor belongs to one of the following types listed here, please follow the tips for the best results.

Matt finish
Dirt tends to stick more easily to a floor with a matt finish. That’s why we recommend that you clean your floor regularly using Spray Cleaner on the entire floor in order to remove dirt attached to the surface. A greasy residue can form if you have cleaned the floor in the incorrect way, for example, by using too much household cleaner or soap. To remove this film, spray an ample amount of Spray Cleaner over the whole floor and wait a few minutes for this cleaning agent to dissolve the dirt or grease. Wipe the floor with a damp cloth and then dry the floor off with a dry mop.  If necessary, repeat these steps until the dirt or greasy film has been removed.

Polished (gloss) finish
Marks from water show up more clearly on a gloss surface. Therefore always dry the floor with a dry mop after cleaning.

Floors with bevelled edges
Floors with bevelled edges are more sensitive to water because water can accumulate at the edges in the indentations. Never wet mop the floor. Regular cleaning can be done with a slightly damp mop (wrung out carefully). However, make sure that no water accumulates at the bevelled edges. Always dry off the floor after cleaning.
